Who Really Killed Huey Long?

The assassination of Huey Pierce Long remains one of the great unsolved mysteries in American History. This blog will tell you who really killed Huey Long and why.  While the truth has remained obscured for almost a century, I have no doubt that the alleged assassin, Carl Weiss, was not the killer. Huey's bodyguard killed him, as many had previously alleged. The most common alternative to the official story is that the bodyguards killed their boss by accident and then covered up their mistake. However, this was no accident. Huey's death was the result of a planned assassination.

Huey's bodyguards killed him as part of a conspiracy that involved the rest of the Long political machine. Had Huey remained living, the machine would have been broken apart and the major players sent to prison- including Long himself. With Huey's timely death, the conspirators stayed out of jail and the machine was flush with cash and patronage as never before. All charges against machine members were quietly dropped. 

Some readers might already be saying that this could all just be coincidence. I have much more evidence to present in support of my theory than just that things worked out well for the machine.   But even so, some readers may not be convinced even once I have presented all the evidence on this blog.  That can't be avoided- there's just no convincing some people.  But even the skeptics should come along for the ride anyway.  It's a hell of a story.
